NOSTALGIA MARKETING
Nostalgia marketing is a great strategy to use when wanting to appeal to your cutovers on a deeper level. Nostalgia allows marketers to dig deep into ones past and bring out a enjoyable memory. the consumer is forced to recall a certain past even that brought joy to them.

The Bug Vacuum
I decided to make a creative ad for the bug vacuum. this ad consist of the infamous youtube video of the man trying to catch this gigantic spider with a tuppawear container half the spiders size. the video will play on through and at the end of the commercial, the screen will turn black with white words that read, "DONT END UP LIKE HIM" and then the bug vacuums will pop out with a spotlight on it and the announcer will explain al of the cool gadgets the bug vacuum comes with. the slogan will be,"DONT END UP LIKE THAT ONE GUY". This product will be sold in department stores like Macys and Bed Bath and Beyond.
TOBLERONE
i think a great way to advertise the new Toblerone chocolate bar by using social media outlets, is to make an ad for Youtube. this ad will be no more than 30 seconds which will show the making of the chocolate bar. a new and hip main stream song will be playing in the back round to keep the youtubers attention so they will not skip through the add. at the end of the app, an announcer will tell the listener to like their page on Facebook for a chance to with a coupon for a free Toblernone.
this will get the customer blogging about the item which will influence others to do the same thus making Toblerone bigger than ever.
these social media outlets will allow others to share their thoughts and feelings on this item, while promoting it at the same time

creativity at its finest
Each year the the collective promotion of Dutch literature pre motes a new piece of literature. This years theme happens to be autobiographies. to celebrate the authors writing, the book has been molded into the face of the authors. The portraits are filled with the authors words. Whenever you're done with the book, you can hang it on your mantel and a center piece. I thought this was very clever and quite unique.Everyone is looking for the newest and coolest thing and I think the Dutch have found it.

JEEP in its prime
During workshop on Wednesday, my group and I decided to use the Grand Cherokee 2013 4x4 Laredo Jeep as our product for the senior citizen customers. With features like anti-lock breaks, seat warmers ,air conditioning, enhanced accident response system and automatic head lights. for many senior citizens, driving is becoming more of a hassle but with the new Grand Cherokee 2013 4x4 Laredo Jeep older people can feel safe and stylish. when you think a car made for an older crowd you think of a jalopy of some sort with a very tacky color but with this jeep in particular, they can look cool and be safe all at the same time.
With the commercial we decided to take a very warm and vacation route. The scene starts with an older married couple sitting in the living room reading when all of a sudden they hear loud polka music playing outside their window. The old man looks outside to see who it is. It turns out to be their bingo buddies. They rush out the doors with their walkers and oxygen tanks and slowly make their way into the car. During the scene of them on the road, the new features of the car are being used and explained. When they get to their destination, it turns of to be vegas and the scene fades out with the the name of the product on the screen.

A Day in the life of a mother
Mother Suzy is awakened by the sound of her 2 year old crying baby at 6:00 in the morning. she gets up, feeds the baby then starts to make breakfast for the rest of the family. Her husband her son wakes up at 8 followed by her husband. The whole family sits down at the dining room table. While Bobby, her son gets dressed, she packs him a healthy organic lunch filled with kettle chips pirate booty and an organic peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She then gets the baby together and drops Bobby off at school. Suzy then comes back home and cleans up the house. Suzy is believes in saving the environment so all of the products she uses to clean the how are environment friendly and bio degradable. She then gives baby rose a bath with Johnson&Johnson products. After baby Rose's bath, she is put down for a nap. While the baby is napping, Suzy takes a shower and only uses Dove products. By the time she's done with her shower, its time to pick up Bobby. After picking up Bobby, she then goes to Whole Foods to buy something to cook for dinner. When she and the family gets back home, she prepares a good wholesome meal and the whole family sits down to dinner when dad gets back from work.
consumer behavior
A company that is a great example a successful launch due to consumer behavior would be Gerber. Gerber started in in 1928 as a food campaign. Gerber is one of the longest running food companies in the U.S. Not only was Gerber a one of the highest growing food companies and continues to grow, they are also branching out in other areas. Gerber has now branched off into life insurance and clothing products. I think the main reason why Gerber is so successful is because this company is family operated and own and has been since 1928. Unlike other companies, Gerber became very versatile with what items they were willing to put there name on. Gerber listened to their consumers about their dislikes and likes on the products. They then would fix the problems that the products had and then put the item back on the market for the consumer. Gerber takes into consideration what their consumers want / need /use and give it to them in an offer they can't refuse.

stereotypes
I honestly believe racial stereotyping is necessary in advertising. when creating an ad, you're trying to relate to a certain type of consumer. I believe this also ties back into the idea of myvertisement. The consumer needs to relate to the ad in order to even think about purchasing the item, therefore stereotyping is in a sense used as marketing technique. I think stereotyping is necessary but needs boundaries and limitations. I do not think racial stereotyping is a thing of the past. theres a MC Donald's ad that my mom and I found very racist. Not only are there only black people in the commercial but they are also rapping! When i asked my mom how she felt about the commercial she told me it was the same stereotypical portray of African Americans doing what uncle SAM wants them to do, entertain. I feel like this ad is another set back for African Americans yet again. In this ad, MC Donald's is trying to reach out to one certain type of consumer, which is the black community. unfortunately i have not been able to find that commercial but here is a link to another semi racist commercial. although there are only food objects rapping, they are still trying to relate to a certain type of consumer. I also noticed that most MC Donald's are placed in urban city areas. coincidence? i think not! In a way advertising has an ethical responsibility to portray what is socially acceptable by the majority of the consumers. When catching commercials, the average American needs a sense of security. People do not want to watch anything that may cause them to think to hard or bring them discomfort.

what makes a brand relevant
Relevance is very important when it comes to a brand. The relevance of a brand lets you know how popular the brand is amongst different social classes and social groups. Relevance also lets a consumer know if that brand will be acceptable by their peers. If they see their peers wearing or consuming a similar item, then they know that the item is relevant. Celebrities also play a very big role in the consumers mind when deciding if the brand is relevant or not. In clothes, consumers tend to wear what they see their idol wearing, so that they can be more like that person. Its a sense of bond that the item brings between the consumer and their idol. How relevant a brand is can also be determined by how popular it stands with middle. You can determine just about any items relevance by middle Americas opinions because of its diversity and variety of social
As you can see from the picture below, YSL became very popular with young people after seeing Justin Bieber wearing it at the VMA awards last year.YSL has been around for years but was mostly popular with older adults. Now, you can spot the YSL brand just about anywhere but even more so on young hip adults then before.

guest speaker: Dietmar Dathmen
I found the guest speaker, Dietmar Dathmen to be very eccentric and full of energy. His presentation was able to cover a lot of great topics in such a short amount of time but the topic that stood out the most was his idea on what is considered relevant in the advertising world. Fame is what makes the ad relevant. Dathmen then went on to explain how ads use brands to keep the product relevant. Fame makes the product look more attractive. Fame also makes the ad more personal by sticking out key elements that the consumers find pleasurable. Overall, I enjoyed the presentation very much and would love to hear from more guest speakers.
